A currently valid Nassau Community College identification card is required to borrow Library materials. The Library circulates books which are loaned for 21 days and Media materials which are loaned for 7 days and 14 days.
The following services are offered at our main desk:
Patrons may place a hold on any item that is listed in NASCAT as "loaned". Holds may be
placed at the Circulation counter. As soon as the item is returned, the patron will be notified. Circulation Services will keep the item aside for 7 days for patron pick-up.
The Help Desk, located on the 2nd floor of the library is staffed Mondays- Friday between 9:00am and 3:00pm. If you need assistance in locating a specific book on the shelf a Help Desk staff member will assist you. During hours that the Help Desk is not covered Circulation Services, on the first floor, will provide assistance to any individual encountering a problem locating an item on the shelf.
SUNY OPEN ACCESS:
Through the SUNY Open Access Program, NCC students, faculty and staff may borrow materials from any SUNY Library. A valid NCC ID card is required.
Reserve textbooks and required readings circulate for 2 hours in the library only. They may be renewed after two hours if no one is waiting for the item. You must present the book’s call number and your validated NCC ID card to borrow textbooks and required readings.
All materials may be renewed an unlimited number of times, providing no one has placed a hold on the item. The renewal loan period is the same as the original loan period. All renewals must be done in person, at the Circulation Desk. Be sure to bring NCC ID.
MEDIA RESERVE (L102)
Media Reserve houses audio/visual items that are placed on reserve by instructors. These items may not leave the building and may be viewed on stations located outside room L102. In addition, microscopes, slides and many anatomy and physiology models are located in Media Reserve. These items are loaned for two hours and cannot leave the room. A faculty tutor is available to assist students in their study and use of the models and microscopes. Please contact the area at extension 26060 for tutor hours. A valid NCC ID card is required for the use of all material in this area. In addition, eating and drinking is strictly prohibited in this room.
