How to Schedule a Library Instruction Session
NCC faculty members may request course-related library research instruction for their classes.
Instruction sessions are taught by librarians who tailor the content to the specific class assignment
and the students' research needs. Instruction sessions can include print sources, the Library catalog,
Internet resources, subscription databases such as Infotrac's
Expanded Academic, General Reference Center, General Business, and Health Reference and
FirstSearch which covers a wide variety of subjects in 54 databases.
Instruction sessions are held in the Library in rooms L20A/B and L20C.
Please schedule your class at least two weeks in advance. The NCC Library Instruction
Request Form can be used to schedule your class session,
or you may contact the Library Reference Unit at 572-7408/09. Always include the following information:
- Your name and e-mail address, a phone number where you can be reached
-
Course name and number
- Number of students in your class
-
Day, date and time you would like to
bring the class(es) to the library. It is helpful to have backup dates as well.
- Specific research tools you wish to include in the session (librarians will be happy to discuss the various options with you).
- The assignment, project or research needs the instruction session should address.
This form is intended as a convenience for NCC faculty in scheduling library instruction class or classes for their students. A minimum of two weeks notice is required. Upon receiving your request, the Reference Unit will e-mail you to confirm your requested time slot.
