Choosing Additional Keywords

Remember: computers can only match the words you type with what is available in the
database, so it is important to have alternate keywords, in the form of similar terms. Having a
selection of words to type will give you a better chance of finding the results you want.

EXAMPLES:

Research Question:	Is the death penalty biased against minorities?
Keywords:	Similar terms/phrases:
death penalty	capital punishment, death row
minorities	Blacks, African-Americans, Hispanics
bias	racism

Research Question:	Is schizophrenia hereditary?
Keywords:	Similar terms/phrases:
hereditary	heredity, genes, genetics
schizophrenia	mental illness, split personality, multiple personality

Research Question:	Would legalizing marijuana reduce crime?
Keywords:	Similar terms/phrases:
legalize	legal, law
marijuana	marihuana, drugs, cannabis
crime	violence, theft
