Choosing and Developing a Topic
Turning
an Idea into a Research Topic
Unfortunately,
not every idea makes a good research topic.
A
good research topic:
-
Raises a question that can be answered by research.
- Has
sufficient useful material available.
- Is
often a question on which sides can be taken.
-
Is specific enough to allow appropriate coverage in a paper.
The
first step is to learn more about your topic in a general way.
This is known as gathering background information.
