HOW TO GET A LIBRARY CARD

New York Residents

Residents ages 13 and older can fill out the online application and choose to pick up their library cards at Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) or have it mailed.

All ages can visit any of BPL's 60 locations and apply in person.

If you live outside of New York but work or go to school in New York State, you may apply in person for a free BPL library card.

The BPL  as access to many databases that are not available through the NCC Library. You may visit a branch, or limit your search to a subject and to databases available at home with a card.

African-American Research: Scholarly documents and primary research

Black Women Writers: The works from Africa and the African Diaspora

Caribbean Literature: Caribbean poems, plays, novels, short stories

Lynda.com: Training videos in many subjects

Mango Languages: Interactive language learning

New York Times: The New York Times: Late Edition (East Coast) from 1980 to the present

Through the BPL, card holders have access to these excellent resources.
