Open educational resources (OER) are any resources available at little or no cost that can be used for teaching, learning, or research.
Find a Textbook
  • Use the links below to locate textbooks and/or resources on your subject. If you have trouble locating what you want, contact OER@ncc.edu or OER@suny.edu
Adopt a Textbook 
  • New to Open Educational Resources?- adopt the textbook for the first year. Find a textbook that covers your topic and teach with it for a few semesters.
  • How do you adopt a textbook? Contact OER@ncc.edu and we will help you. 
Adapt a Textbook
  • Once you've taught with your OER textbook for a few years, you might realize that you don't need certain chapters, or that you might like to add your own information to the textbook. That's when we will adapt your textbook.

There are Ready-to-Adopt courses that have been tailored for SUNY faculty now available on the Lumen Learning platform.

There is currently no charge to students or faculty for using this platform - SUNY OER Services has an agreement at this time.

Searching for Open Educational Resources

Ready to start searching for OERs? Check out OASIS. Openly Available Sources Integrated Search (OASIS) is a search tool that aims to make the discovery of open content easier. OASIS currently searches open content from 52 different sources and contains 155,375 records. OASIS is being developed at SUNY Geneseo's Milne Library in consultation with Alexis Clifton, SUNY OER Services Executive Director.
