Distance Education Library Tools and Tricks

Embedding a link to an article you find in a Library database is easy. Follow these steps!

  • Find the article you need. Use SearchAll from our homepage to ensure the authentication string is included.

  • Decide if you want to link to it as an item or as a weblink.  Either way, students off-campus will have to authenticate with their N# and PIN.

  • Locate the permalink or stable URL for the article. Copy it using Ctrl C or Command C on a Mac.

  • Open your Blackboard course and locate the content area where you wish to embed the link. Clink on Item to enter it as a content item.

  •  Enter the title of the article or the name you wish to use. Type the name of the article in the text box, highlight it and then lick the link icon.

  •  Paste the permalink from the database page using Ctrl V or Command V on a Mac. If you use Search All to capture the pemalink, the EZProxy authentication will automatically be included.

To include the link as a weblink in your course, select Weblink from the Blackboard Build Content menu.

Enter the title or name and the paste the Permalink as above.
